About

Welcome to Macumazahn

me & splash

My name is Paula Edgar, I live at Lower Inman Valley (short distance from Victor Harbor – Encounter Bay) –  south of Adelaide , the capital city of South Australia.

I have owned Rhodesian Ridgebacks since 1984 and bred my first litter in 1990.   I breed for myself and aim to breed 2 litters per year – when I’m looking to add to my ever expanding family.  Rhodesian Ridgebacks are addictive – you cannot stop at just one!!

Twelve of my breeding have gone on to win Best In Show at All Breeds Championship Show, Open Show, Multiple Best In Show and Runner Up in Show at Specialty level – including various property classes ie: Best Headed, Best Ridge, Best Gaited, Best Sire & Dam’s progeny and Most Successful Sire & Dam & Best Brace.  There have also been many Class In Show, Best In Group and Class In Group awards under Australian and International judges.   To date Macumazahn Rhodesian Ridgebacks have won 25 BEST IN SHOW SPECIALTY awards (including 1 National) – 9 Runner Up Best In Show Specialty (including 1 National)  & 2 BEST IN SHOW All Breeds –   in Australia & Europe.

I work as a Developmental Care Worker with Minda Inc.  I assist people who have an intellectual disability.  I love the people I work with and enjoy each day with them, some days more than others!  🙂  I often take a dog or two with me to work and the residents enjoy interacting with the dogs – walking, playing or just cuddling them.    The downside to my job is that it is shift work, so unfortunately I don’t get to many shows these days, but when I can – it’s a great day out for me and the furchildren catching up with old friends.

Living on 20 acres, my dogs enjoy a romp daily and in winter get the benefit of playing in our river and running in the back paddock (which is off limits in summer due to snakes!).  My dogs enjoy a good run on our local beaches which is also great for socialising for them and me.   Most Ridgebacks enjoy water sports. The dogs and I also enjoy long walks through Kuitpo forest during the cooler months.  We are very lucky to have such great places to run dogs free to enable them to explore and just “be dogs”.

At home the dogs are happy to soak up the sun’s rays or relax on the couch or in front of the fireplace and keep guard of their family.

So if you are looking for a loyal companion, a great cuddler & bed warmer – then look no further – a Rhodesian Ridgeback may be the answer for you !!
